A hotel's checklist before an inspection

A visit is prepared in the order it unfolds: what you will be asked for first is what should be ready first. This checklist follows that order.

This guide is an aid to understanding, not legal advice. The law applicable to a given property depends on its classification, its occupancy and the prescriptions of the competent safety commission. Check the cited texts before acting on them.

First, the documents

This is the base: without them, the rest of the visit changes tone.

  • The safety register, current and dated
  • The verification reports, in their original form
  • Staff training certificates
  • Maintenance contracts for safety equipment

Then, previous findings

A finding raised at the last visit and still open is the first thing that will be looked at. For each one: proof of closure, or a dated account of what is underway.

  • Each finding matched to its closure evidence
  • Dated photos for work done in-house
  • Quote or order for what is underway but not finished

Last, what shows on the walk

The walking part happens in the corridors:

  • Exits and emergency lighting clear and working
  • Instructions and plans posted where the text expects them
  • Technical rooms accessible and locked

The version that keeps itself

Each point above maps to something Paco keeps continuously: the register updates from your documents, findings stay open until the photo that closes them, and the inspection pack assembles in one click. The checklist becomes a re-read, not a scramble.

Common questions

How far ahead should you start?

Early enough for a silent contractor to be chased and to come through: weeks, not days. Our six-week scenario walks a full example.

Ready without the scramble

The binder already exists if the register is current.
